London Fashion Week prepares for one of its biggest seasons in years, with two major British fashion names returning to the city. McQueen is coming back to its home capital, while Mulberry will return with Christopher Kane leading its new womenswear chapter. Together, the moves give London a much-needed boost as it fights to keep its place among the world's biggest fashion cities.
The Spring/Summer 2027 shows will run from 17 to 21 September 2026, bringing famous houses, young designers and new names together across London. One day stands out in particular: Sunday, 20 September, when Mulberry by Christopher Kane will show at 3 pm before McQueen takes the 8 pm slot. For London, it could become one of the most important days of the entire season.
McQueen Brings Its Biggest Statement Back to London
McQueen's return carries more meaning than simply adding another luxury name to the schedule. The house was built on the creative world of London, where founder Lee Alexander McQueen studied, worked and staged some of the shows that helped make him famous. Bringing the brand back links its current direction with the city where its story began.
The house last presented a London show for its Spring/Summer 2023 collection in October 2022 at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. Since then, London has been missing one of the most famous British names from its major fashion calendar. McQueen's return for Spring/Summer 2027 will now put the house back in front of a home crowd.
It will also be an important moment for creative director Seán McGirr, who will make his London debut for the house. His Spring/Summer 2027 show will include both menswear and womenswear, giving the evening slot even more weight. The move makes McQueen one of the clear headline names of London Fashion Week this September.
Mulberry Puts Christopher Kane at the Centre of Its Return
Earlier that same Sunday, another British fashion comeback will take place when Mulberry returns to the London Fashion Week catwalk. Christopher Kane will present his first womenswear collection as creative director of the British house. It is a major change for a company still best known worldwide for its leather bags.
Kane joined Mulberry in March 2026 as Creative Director of Women's Ready-to-Wear. The designer is known for bold ideas and unusual takes on colour, shape and the body, making his appointment a clear sign that Mulberry wants to build a stronger fashion identity beyond accessories. His first collection for the house will reach shops and the brand's website from January 2027.
The London show will also bring Kane back to a fashion week that played a major role in his own career. His namesake label became one of London's most talked-about brands before the business closed in 2023. Now, instead of returning under his own name, Kane is getting a new stage through one of Britain's best-known heritage brands.
Why These Returns Matter for London's Comeback
London Fashion Week has never lacked new ideas, but keeping major global brands on its schedule has been harder. Some famous British houses have chosen to present collections in Paris, where many of the world's biggest luxury groups, buyers and fashion leaders gather. That has sometimes left London fighting harder for the same level of global attention.
McQueen coming home changes that picture, even if only one season at a time. A house with deep London roots is choosing the British capital for one of its biggest shows, while Mulberry is using the same week to launch a major new creative era. Those decisions give buyers, editors, celebrities and other industry figures another reason to stay focused on London.
The real test will come after the lights go down and the final models leave the runway. London still needs to turn excitement into lasting support for brands, designers and fashion jobs across Britain. But with McQueen home, Mulberry back on the catwalk and a new generation getting space beside them, September 2026 could mark the moment London Fashion Week starts looking like a major force again.
